Worked example
Metric: weight 70 kg and height 1.75 m → BMI = 70 / (1.75²) = 70 / 3.0625 ≈ 22.9 kg/m² (typical "normal" adult range).
\[ \mathrm{BMI}=70/(1.75)^{2}\approx 22.9 \]
FAQ
Is BMI a diagnosis of health?
No. BMI is a screening ratio of mass to height squared. It does not measure body fat, muscle, or medical risk on its own—athletes and older adults are common edge cases.
How do US customary inputs convert?
The tool converts pounds to kilograms and inches to meters before applying BMI = w/h², so Metric and US unit systems stay comparable.

Assumptions and limitations
These fitness results are not a medical diagnosis or treatment plan. They use the named screening formulas only and cannot replace advice from a qualified clinician.
WHO adult BMI bands are a coarse screen. They do not account for muscle mass, bone density, or fat distribution.
