Using the Body Fat Calculator

Estimate body-fat percentage with the U.S. Navy method. Typical inputs are Units, Sex, Height (cm) and Waist (cm). How it works beside the form states the identity the Body Fat Calculator applies.

Worked example

The Navy method uses logarithms of circumference and height. Measure waist at the navel, neck just below the larynx, and (for the female formula) hips at the widest point. Keep units consistent with the selected metric/US mode.

FAQ

Is Navy body fat the same as DEXA?

No. Circumference formulas are estimates. DEXA, hydrostatic weighing, and similar methods can differ by several percentage points.

Why is hip circumference required?

The female Navy equation includes hip circumference. The male equation uses abdomen and neck only; unused fields do not enter that formula.
